HI, MY NAME IS YASSER.
Yasser is a geoscientist with more than eight years of experience in the energy industry. He worked for different oil and gas companies, progressing from being an intern geologist with Sudan National Petroleum Company to supervising geological operations with 2B Petroleum Operating Company.
Beyond the corporate realm, Yasser also has a commendable 12-year tenure in the nonprofit sphere. He volunteered at the Alsufur Charitable Society, Global Peace Chain (GPC), and European Young Engineers (EYE), igniting change and fostering global connections. Yasser is the founder and president of the PetroNile Academy, an educational platform in the energy sector and the first-ever e-learning platform in Sudan. Through the academy, he organized courses, webinars, and school visits on various topics in the industry, reaching more than 10,000 students across borders. The academy also sponsored the first ever Sudanese conference on quality, health, safety, and environment, setting a new standard for excellence. The academy’s success taught him that being resourceful and taking advantage of opportunities can help us overcome challenges and make a positive impact on our community.
He also founded EcoNile for Environmental Sustainability, a non-profit organization that aims to educate and engage people from all walks of life about environmental issues, with a specific focus on climate change. He reached over 5,000 students and professionals through their online workshops and courses. EcoNile’s collaboration with esteemed entities for the eco-fair and its role in the Local Conference of Youth in Sudan underscore Yasser’s influence in fostering environmental stewardship and youth empowerment. His experiences with PetroNile and EcoNile have fueled his passion for sustainable energy and motivated him to contribute to the development of solutions that benefit the environment and society.
Yasser’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. TechNille sprouted from his vision to empower Sudanese people with digital literacy skills and competencies that can enhance their quality of life, education, health, and economic opportunities, as well as their participation in social and civic life.
Outside of work, Yasser finds joy in playing and watching football, learning new languages, and reading about anthropology. His passion and curiosity for the world drive him to explore different cultures, perspectives, and challenges. Yasser doesn’t see a clear boundary between professionalism, personal growth, and social impact.
Experience
Senior Well-site Geological Supervisor
2B Operating Petroleum Company
Dec 2017 – Present
As a supervisor I managed and monitored geological operations in 23 wells in the Heglig oil field, delivering accurate and timely analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of hydrocarbon zones. I directed contractors (mudlogging, wireline logging, and core crews) at the rig site and provided daily program requirements on their work performance, which improved my leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. I also contributed to company asset integrity initiatives by reporting bad practices, enhancing HSE understanding. Moreover, I gained experience as an acting superintendent, managing multiple tasks under pressure, coordinating contractors, conducting technical inspections, and delivering high-quality well reports.
Senior Well-site Geological Supervisor
Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company
Mar 2015 – May 2017
I managed geological operations across eight wells in Bamboo and the Neem oil fields in Sudan, enhancing skills in geological data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. Besides, I developed expertise in drilling operations, safety standards, and Gravitas software for composite logs.
Geologist
Asawer Mud Logging Company
Jun 2014 – Dec 2014
I evaluated subsurface rock cuttings and hydrocarbon shows in the Hadid oil field (Sudan), refining skills in rock sample analysis, hydrocarbon detection, and real-time drilling data. Moreover, I improved communication, teamwork, and attention to detail skills by working closely with drilling crews and geological supervisors.
Intern
Sudan National Petroleum Corporations
May 2013 – May 2014
Acquired a comprehensive oil and gas training program in the exploration department, strengthening skills in interpreting seismic and well data, ensuring quality and representativeness, and improving communication and reporting skills.
